Thinking back of my stay in Kühlungsborn as part of our #Balticdiscovery trip at the Kreativsaison Mecklenburg, I still shiver with emotions. Happiness. Excitement. Such was the magic of pure bliss that my words risk to be carried away when recalling the gentle sea breeze … Just so you know I am not fantasizing, I shall now be wrapping you up in the same magic I experienced here. Expressed by Hotel & Spa Residenz Upstalsboom, Café & Lounge Vielmeer as well as the Baltic Sea Symphony Orchestra thanks to its mighty chorus of wind, beach and spring sunshine rhythms. Enjoy!
#Balticdiscovery: Our team of young journalists relaxes at Alte Büdnerei, is bound by the spell of E-Bikes and floats away at the Hotel & Spa Upstalsboom …
… very much according to the motto “Living the moment!”, we chose not to think about tomorrow. The lady welcoming us at the Four-Star-Superior-Hotel & Spa Upstalsboom is friendly to the point where we feel entirely normal, almost “at home”, in our shorts, flip-flops and sweet smiles. The noble furniture of this luxury estate hotel is being complimented by the hospitality of everybody we meet here. “A spa treatment for both of you?”, the lady at the Baltic Spa reception asks. Well … Why not? 😀
The Magic of the Alte Büdnerei near Kühlungsborn …
has not only remained secret to Andreas, Juli, Teresa, Maximo, Emilie, Daniela or myself: Charming host Kristin Poppinga has brought to life this creative country estate together with her new partner, both appearing just splendid! Good for her that he also helps landscaping the garden, happy, in front of our eyes. We rather only enjoy our delicious local breakfast buffet surrounded by the charms of this Baltic Sea country house estate while later heading to see equally charming local artist Anka Kröhnke. This surprisingly vital and very open-minded lady has found herself a home “high above the coastline” (at about 180 metres above sea level), welcoming us to her house with open doors. The views from up here overlooking the Baltic Sea are just splendid, and so is listening to the artist’s inspirational life story sown into the fabric of former East & Western Germany.
E-Bikes, Gourmet-Currywurst & the eternal magic of the Baltic Sea Coast … Love is in the air!
Being a passionate cyclist from Denmark, Emilie was first not able to warm to the thought of E-Bikes: “I can’t do this, riding a bike with a motor … It just doesn’t feel right!” But wait till she, and all of us, found out how much fun it can be to ride an E-Bike! It took us only a few minutes (including Emilie!) to become really obsessed with the fancy bikes, reaching top (racing) speeds of between 30 – 40 km/h – on a flat, windy lane using power gear “5 out of 5”! How cool !!
