Today is Janni’s birthday. He has only just turned one, yet already weighs about half as much as myself. However, what definitely “weighs” most here at the romantic North Sea country cottage of lovely Elke Weiler is pure JOY: High jump. Barking like mad. Sprinting as if there was no tomorrow. Asking for cuddles, burrowing in the long dog fur. JOY for both dogs and humans is also inspired by the wide open landscape, the lush green meadows or the endless horizons. Just beautiful. For dog & (wo)man!
Today, I would like to share with you my 20 reasons in 20 pictures as to why you should visit the North Sea Coast in Germany. Actually, who you should really go see is Elke Weiler. For a “blogger greet” among travel bloggers or just like that. I have hardly ever met a travel blogger & professional journalist as inspiring, talented and open-minded as herself. Not only does she have two really good arguments at hand, delightful bearded collies Janni & Julchen, but also offers a lot of inspiration herself by publishing online travel magazine MEERBLOG. In the evening, we talk a walk across from the house: Janni & Julchen, the dogs, quite like to go mad in those pretty surroundings. Who could blame them!
Cows don’t mean enlightenment, but are rather barked at.
Local Sheep Cheese “Friesische Schafskäserei”: Elke only serves me what is good for us. Lucky girls!
The next day, we go for a walk with the dogs about two kilometres down the road to this cute little café “Alte Schule”, where we are greeted very warmheartedly, almost as family!

Everything has burst into flowers in the spring: We enjoy the magic of the landscape here in May.
Lunchtime is “Strander” time: This delicious home-made bread is filled with local sheep cheese, tomatoes and spices and is JUST beautiful. Yum!
After this cake, we are more than happy …
I love the dogs. Janni & Julchen are just so cute, aren’t they? Wonder if they think the same of me. Haha.
In the evening, Elke drives me and the dogs to a nearby beach, St. Peter-Ording where she manoeuvres the car right out onto the beach. An experience that gets me squealing with joy – funny Austrian (with no beach) I am!

Julchen says: “Wanna play?” Well yes, for sure! And: “Do really come and visit. I like to look you in the eye just as I do now, too.” (“Perhaps you will be carrying a dog cookie, a pig ear or any other kind of dog delight for me, eh?”) In any case, you win if you do! Hehehe.

Amazing pictures. I love the North Coast as well as the East Coast. Due I’m living in Munich now, but my mother stayed at Kiel, Im very often travelling to North & East Coast.
This piece of Germany is as charming as a seaside located place could be.
