Short Trip with the family to Hotel Therme Laa

First as a couple, now with the whole family. Over a year ago, my husband and I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Therme Laa. So much that we gave my parents a travel voucher to come with us in the New Year.

On their website, I find a really great value-for-money offer whereby we spend one night from Sunday till Monday, complete with half board and a two-day stay at the spa. It’s my parents, us and our two little boys this time, just under one and four years old this time. Yeehaw!

Liam is excited: We decide - also for the sake of him and his loved ones to travel by train - to take the express train from our home in Vienna Floridsdorf to Laa an der Thaya.

Sustainble travel: Taking the train to Laa from Vienna

The ÖBB train from Vienna to Laa an der Thaya leaves once every hour and takes about an hour. It’s a pleasant journey, especially with young children, as we all have a good time on the train and the kids can move around freely.

Good to know: The walk from the train station to Therme Laa is only a few hundred metres. Nevertheless, the hotel offers to pick us up from the station. On arrival, we choose to walk the short distance – after the second day at the spa, we gladly accept the transfer offer.

Arrival at Laa an der Thaya railway station: From the platform it is only a short walk across to Therme Laa and Hotel Therme Laa.

Hotel and Thermal Spa Laa

The Hotel Therme Laa – Silent Spa is a four-star superior hotel and offers all the luxury you can imagine. What we as a family (four adults, two small children) really appreciated is having two rooms with connecting doors next to each other.

What I also remembered from our first visit was the excellent food (both at breakfast and dinner). Perfect for the kids and for us!

From the hotel, you can cross the so-called “Bridge of the Senses” to the Hotel Spa, the Silent Spa (at an extra charge) and the public Thermal Spa Laa. Our boys love the kids area including a slide! The playroom (with children’s entertainment) is also very well done in both offer and design.

Personally, I liked the brine pool (36°C) best. Therme Laa – we’ll be back, with or without children!
