One last trip into the “adult area” of the Vienna Spa “Therme Wien”. One last time of undisturbed snoozing, of reading magazines, of lolling around on your spa chair. One last day spa as a couple. The notion of taking a final break before a totally different routine is especially attractive to us as expectant parents. We were lucky to head to “Therme Wien” on a relatively quiet Saturday in the off-season (beginning of April) and enjoy a relatively undisturbed environment for a capital city spa. I can only recommend “Therme Wien” great value for money deal “RelaxTagesUrlaub“: At € 85,- admission per person, you receive lots of goodies and access to an exclusive rest area, which quickly makes up for the daily admission fee.
If you can, make your way on public transport: U1 “Oberlaa”, at only a few stops from the city centre of Vienna.
Where exactly in Vienna is the “Therme Wien” located? It is actually on the outskirts of the city: In the southeast of Vienna, right by the green lungs of the “Kurpark Oberlaa” and on the border with the adjoining province of Lower Austria. Only the airplanes, occasionally appearing in the sky, remind you that the big city is not far after all.
Since my sweetheart and I live at the other end of the underground line U1, our journey to the “Therme Wien” takes us just half an hour. Wow! We are really surprised at just how fast we get there. After receiving our tickets, we get access to our own changing rooms for the day included in our “RelaxTagesUrlaub” (super practical for families with lots of “stuff”, I already think ahead ..!) then continue VIP-like to the RelaxLounge on the first floor, located right above the thermal water pools with probably the best view over the entire spa landscape.
Our “RelaxTagesUrlaub” package covers it all, we just have to take our own swim wear, nothing else. Instead, we walk home with spa gifts, even.
We have already used up the shower & body lotions we’ve received as gifts from the spa brand Vinoble. Besides, the reusable waterproof plastic containers for the wet bathing suits are already proving practical for subsequent (family) use. Vouchers for another visit are also given out, and we take care to use the 15% discount on all spa treatments in the thermal massage area: I treat myself to a classic lymphatic drainage for the relief of my tired legs carrying baby, and my sweetheart prepares for his forthcoming marathon with a small head-shoulder-neck massage …!
Disclaimer: We have been invited by “Therme Wien” to experience their day package “RelaxTagesUrlaub”. All opinions are my own.
