“If all of us multiply, link and share our individual efforts, ‘one plus one really can become three’.” Such, or similar, are my words when interviewed as part of our international blogger meet-up #inAustria, which has brought me back to travelling in Tyrol. Both the Austrian National Tourist Board as well as the Tyrol Tourism Board have called upon a spectacular international host of travel bloggers joining us from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, the UK, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia and even China! Jenny from Beijing, for instance, talks about her experiences in the following video, a great recap of our emotions and happenings during the #LoveTirol trip:

Visiting Martin’s Husky ranch will stay with me forever, I think. More about it in my following post. Let’s start with what we all want to know: Great foodie tips #inAustria.
Schnaps tasting, mountain huts, skiing downhill, trips to the sauna and our very own, Austrian “Gemütlichkeit” (cosiness): Thinking of winter in Tyrol automatically brings up some well-known images (and yes, we can confirm the one about the notoriously funny Austrian ski instructors!), however also adds news insights. What’s totally new this time is the Adeo Alpin hotel in Sankt Johann, which has been built by Austria’s famous ex-ski stars Hermann Meier and Rainer Schönfelder. We were lucky enough to stay there even before the official opening took place. It’s made to accommodate families and groups of friends staying in an affordable, modern environment. Check this out.
Of course, we also got to hit the slopes of Tyrol. Turning this one into an unforgettable day was thanks our dear ski instructor Balthasar, who threw in some 30 seasons of experience with his ski school Alpin Hopfgarten.
“Do you know one thing that’s worse than ten English school children?”, Balthasar says all of a sudden as we sit down for lunch at the mountain hut. He looks around expectantly, but no one answers. No one but me even looks at him, the only one among us with a flat battery on her phone. I smile at him encouragingly: “Eight bloggers !!”
“M-hm, yeah well …” Some mumbled excuses, smiles and then finally more conversation as the food and drinks come up. The #LifeOfATravelBlogger as it is! I do manage to get some more out of Balthasar after convincing him to install his own ski school Facebook page manager on his iPhone, though. “All work, no fun”, he posts happily from the chair lift just a little later. That’s it – building bridges at all times. Even or especially during skiing in Tyrol.
Next up ist a little town called Fieberbrunn. There, our hosts at the S4Alm restaurant have come up with yet another special reason to visit: A typical, local Tyrolean schnaps tasting following our spare ribs dinner (schnaps is definitely what you need after a feast like that). Ahead of the tasting, we all get to smell different schnapps aromas, among the more exotic ones horse odour or truffles! I must say I did prefer the fruitier smells, such as berries or apricot. And you?
Last but not least, I would like to share something really cool with you: “Fat Biking”! Only in fashion for about a year, it’s all about pushing fat-tyre mountain bikes across a fairy-tale like winter landscape.
Would you try a fat bike? To be quite honest with you: I am not actually a mountain bike fan! But taking on an e-mountain-bike in Lower Austria once and now fat biking my way in Tyrol, I must say I do like certain aspects of it. Especially, when what you can discover is such a magnificent mountain landscape otherwise difficult to access or simply unknown to you without a (bike) guide. The #KitzAlps are amazing for that, and the Bike Academy here in Kirchberg is right about encouraging the use of fat bikes for some added winter fun. Check this out.
