Apart from the truly famous Cologne Cathedral, you actually have to factor both “Kölsch” beer as well as “Kölnisch Wasser” (Eau de Cologne) into the prestigious World Heritage designation. After all, both are must-see attractions here in Cologne: If you happen to be at one of their famous Brauhaus beer pubs and you find you are not really that much into beer (well done for thinking, Dad 😉 ) just take this as a tip: Do not let the waiter know. They will just laugh at you and serve you Kölsch anyway. Well done Dad! Of course, we had to finish the beer anyway … hehe.
But water has also been used for quite a different purpose other than brewing beer here throughout the course of history. When visiting Cologne, do not miss a visit to the famous aroma museum “Farina”. It is here where the one & only Eau de Cologne comes from. Check out this easy summer stroll around the inner city of Cologne full of discoveries & cultural delights.
