Peace. Perfect service & friendly staff. A visit to a unique design hotel that above all excels in one thing: Authenticity. “We mostly use local and regional ingredients for cooking at the Vineyard Restaurant”, is what our charming waiter explains to us, perfectly attentive and wooing us with his smile: At nine o’clock sharp, once the wine terraced hills of the Lower Austrian Kamptal valley send down their cool night air streams giving the grapes “a breather”, we cuddle up in the restaurant’s blankets. I am laughing at the jokes passed round the table, spending my time here at one of the most exceptional hotels of Austria together with my good friends Terry & Sarah Lee (LiveShareTravel), Janett Schindler (Teilzeitreisender), Nienke Krook (TheTravelTester), Monika & Petar Fuchs (TravelWorldOnline) & Anja Beckmann (TravelOnToast): “I really look forward to writing about the LOISIUM! Thanks to all the inspiration I received, I guess this will be easy.” Monika is impressed – and she is right, too: Good local stories deserve to be told (over and over again). Here is mine, then, featuring our wine & wellness spa experience at the Wine & Spa Resort LOISIUM Hotel Langenlois. Enjoy!
Culinary Delights in the Kamptal valley: A feast for the eyes and for the tummy, from picnicking in the vineyards to an exclusive wine dinner.
Are we spoiled in “wanting it all”? I smile over ordering my breakfast omelette “with everything”, looking out from the sunny morning terrace to the spa pool: Might go for a swim later working out these calories. But somehow, miraculously, the cosy hammocks got in the way of that plan … 😉
Life is full of tough decisions. A visit to a Heurigen or a picnic in the vineyards at the local Käferberg hill behind the LOISIUM hotel? We opt for the latter and are simply overwhelmed in our expectations. What we find here is a perfect summer evening atmosphere, complete with golden sunset, a perfectly laid out table on a modern lookout tower offering us a 360°C view all over Lower Austria – the Waldviertel, Kamp & Danube valleys and all the way to the Alps: “This place here is one of the most romantic I have ever been!” Petar Fuchs laughs and gives his wife Monika a tender look. Be sure to come here one day: It is absolutely gorgeous – even I as a local am quite so impressed.
Spa & Wellness: How to let go over an Outdoor Summer Massage right inside the vineyards …
Fancy a different kind of spa treatment without the usual candle lights & wellness music in a dark room? Well, outdoor summer treatments are the way to go! Here at the LOISIUM, we found a massage table right inside the vineyards of the hotel: Very cool. After the beautiful treatment complete with Austrian grape seed oil used to massage your back, I step out onto the rose garden, dazed and happy, falling straight into one of the surrounding hammocks … nice. Almost kitsch, if it hadn’t been so real!
Architecture Experience: Hotel & World of Wine LOISIUM in Langenlois
A hotel whose rooms “float above the vineyards”? A visit to the local cellars imagining to “be a grape that is about to be turned into wine”? I LOVE the local storytelling we do for our visitors, having worked as a tour guide at the LOISIUM Wine Experience World for several seasons already. Of course this time, I had to take my friends & fellow travel writers on a special trip! “Please do pay attention to what I say right now .. could you do that, Terry?!” I laugh over Terry and Janett who are like children, constantly babbling away and mesmerized by what they see and experience. Haha!
Built from the plans of the famous New York architect Steven Holl, both the LOISIUM Wine Experience World built in 2003 as well as the hotel, added in 2005, draw thousands of interested visitors to the area each year. Together, they all come to see the exceptional combination of wine, spa & architecture. If you, too, are interested in a visit, just leave me a comment here: I would be delighted to give you further tips around “my hood”, the Kamptal wine growing district! Now be inspired by even more gorgeous photography … enjoy!
Disclaimer: We have been invited by the Wine & Spa Resort LOISIUM Hotel in order to travel into the Lower Austrian Kamptal wine growing district. All opinions are my own.

Such a nice review you have here, I really enjoy reading it!
My name is Abe Cheung from Hong Kong and I am planning a visit to Kremstal, Austria this mid October 2017 however will not be staying in this marvellous hotel due to limited budget. However I surely will pay a visit of this vineyard as well as joining their tour. I saw in your photos that we can dine outdoor with the vineyard surrounding you, can it be arranged with the resturant eventhough we don’t have a hotel room there? or would it be too cold to dine out in mid October? say in the afternoon? What is your recommendation? Please advise, many thanks!
Dear Abe,
Thank you for your enthusiasm! I have taken the care to get back to the hotel directly, who have replied that you are welcome to hire a picnic basket through them, and sit in a vineyard location of your choice (they will help you find a good spot!). Let me know if you need anything else, such as a personal contact, and I’ll gladly help you out !
Cheers,
Elena
